Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – Animals

Hello and welcome to our blog hop! I hope you’ve had a great end to the week. I had a lovely day. While my darling mum looked after Master 4 for me, I spent my morning crafting in a class run by card maker extraordinaire, Kelly Kent. It’s a class just for demos, so we all know our way around the craft desk πŸ˜‰ The time was spent making beautiful cards that require a good skill level and the chance to try a new technique. (The new white sparkle embossing paste is gorgeous!)

And then my afternoon was spent doing more crafting! Would you believe I was making my cards for this blog hop??! (My blog name doesn’t give anything away about my time management LOL!) I spent the time with my mum in her craft room, while I let the kids enjoy some TV time. I don’t know how things are going for your kids, but after only a week and a half of school, they’re exhausted! So everyone was happy, I was card making and they were getting square eyes.

Now, onto the reason you’re here: our theme for this blog hop is ‘Animals’.

While all the colours and materials I used are current, I did rely on a retired stamp set for my cards. ‘Love You Lots’ came to mind for this theme, because, well… cute critters! But it also inspired me to get some Valentine’s Day cards made.

The layout for my cards was cased from one of Kelly’s creations featured in this blog post. I love the effect of stamping colour on colour for a background. It adds a lovely element of interest, without needing layer upon layer of DSP or cardstock. It’s also a good way to use a stamp in a set that might not otherwise get used.

First up are the gorgeous lil ladybugs for my lil lady. Real Read is the feature colour, with a dash of Powder Pink. I used the marker to colour my bugs, and a blender pen for the hearts. Once again I used Whisper White cardstock instead of watercolour paper when I was planning to use my aquapainter. So blender pen to the rescue!

And every project needs a touch of sparkle! Wink of Stella was used on the hearts and the ladybug spots.

This little frog is so my little man knows I’m thinking of him. Old Olive with a touch of Lemon Lime Twist.

And he likes sparkle too, so Wink of Stella on the hearts and the thought bubble for this card.

This card is for my big man. He’s a bit like a hedgehog, prickly on the outside (especially whisker stubble!) but squishy on the inside. Chocolate Chip and Pumpkin Pie on this card.

And I decided I had to put some sparkle on all the hearts. He puts a sparkle in mine πŸ™‚

For my last card, I used grey instead of black for stamping my image. I like the softer effect of the grey for some projects. This card is for my mum – my beautiful, darling, loving, supportive, funny mum. I love the colour combination of yellow and grey, or in Stampin’ Up lingo (which we both speak well!) it’s Smoky Slate and Daffodil Delight.

Sparkly hearts and a sparkly mouse here. My strong, always there mum has put the sparkle in me.

Coming up next are the amazing creations by Stella at Secretly Scrapbooking. But it’s no secret her projects are gorgeous!

Have a great weekend! I hope you have something lovely planned for Valentine’s Day (if that’s your thing).

Do you like colour on colour stamping?

Do you let your kids have some TV time so you can just get the last bit (or maybe more) done on a crafting project??

See you next hop! (or maybe sooner…)

  2. Oh, I love these so much! I do love a beautiful set, and I love how you’ve thought about the recipient with each one (puts a sparkle in your heart, you romantic, you!) THis is one of my all time favourite stamp sets, I’ll never part with it. And you’ve just inspired me to pull it out and ink it up – it’s perfect for V-Day πŸ™‚
