Whale hello there, happy Friday! or is it TGIF at your place?
Welcome to this month’s Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop. Tonight’s theme is Red, White and Blue (in part because we were originally hopping on the 14th, which is Bastille Day.)
There are blog and Facebook stops for this hop. Follow along in order by clicking on ‘next’ below.
Some team members were not sure what to make for this hop but with these colours my first thought was nautical. From there, I decided to get my Message in a Bottle stamp set inked up.
That cute little mermaid caught my eye, and then I was hooked when I read the ‘punny’ sentiments.
A few firsts for me with this blog hop. First time I’ve made more than one card for the theme. First time I’ve stamped sentiments and cut them out. AND… First time I’ve not been completely matchy-matchy with my colours! I only had a scrap of Night of Navy cardstock, and no Real Red. So, for the octupus and whale cards I used Cherry Cobbler cardstock and stamped with Real Red and used Night of Navy card stock with Dapper Denim ink (gasp!).
This card was the one I wanted to make first, I love that sentiment – it really tickled my ‘punny’ bone 🙂 I used the Playful Backgrounds stamp set to get my bubbles. I’ve seen sentiments stamped and cut like this on quite a few cards, so I thought it was time to try it myself. I stamped the sentiment twice and then cut each in half for the effect. I was really happy with how it turned out. Simple but effective!
My heart background was made using the small heart stamp in this set – Real Red ink with Cherry Cobbler cardstock (oh no!)
Don’t you love a vellum underlay to add that extra element to a card?
Another ‘punny’ sentiment for this card. Those little whales were easy to fussy cut, and I love the effect of the vellum – do you think they look like bubbles?
I used Playful Backgrounds for this card too.
There you have my red, white and blue creations! Keep hopping along to see the gorgeous designs from the Paper Adventures Team. Next is Sheila, with her post on Facebook.
Have a great weekend!
