Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – Pootles

Hello! Welcome to our March blog hop for the Paper Adventures Team. This month we have the privilege of Sam Hammond Donald (a.k.a. Pootles) joining us as our guest designer! Sam has recently achieved the very significant milestone of £1million of sales with Stampin’ Up!® – the first UK demonstrator to do so! Congratulations Sam on your amazing achievement.

Here is the gorgeous card Sam created for the blog hop, which in turn inspired our creations, with the blog hop theme of CASe (copy and share) Pootles’ card.

I love this layout as it showcases how to use designer series paper (DSP) as a feature. I couldn’t wait to get into my DSP stash and come up with my own version. But, what do you know… I didn’t end up using any! I chose the Harvest Hellos stamp set and then made 5 cards with the same layout as Sam’s card but just with stamping and the apple punch.

For my first card, I stamped images to create my own patterned paper background. For the second, I added some colouring with watercolour pencils.

The next two cards feature repeated stamping, and I used the Stamparatus®  to get them placed just right. It’s so easy moving the plate down the hinges for even spacing.

EDIT: I forgot to mention my inspiration for this card came from one created by team member Mandy (My Paper Trail) for our recent team retreat. Our team leader, Kelly, was also inspired and wrote about it here.

My final card is my favourite. I finally got my Swirly Shapes stamp set inky! And added a touch of Granny Apple Green with the shimmer enamel dots. The sentiment comes from the Sunshine Sayings set.

For all the cards, the apple, stem and leaf are stamped in Whisper White on Real Read, Early Espresso and Granny Apple Green card stock.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my take on Sam’s lovely card.

Next stop in the blog hop takes you back to Sam’s page.

Again, thank you to Sam for joining our blog hop – it was a thrill for our team when she said ‘yes’!

Do you have a favourite layout for card making? This one is definitely going to feature regularly for me! Having a starting point always helps me when I’m waiting for inspiration to strike, and I have more than enough DSP to make many, many cards with this layout!
