Hello! Thank you for visiting my blog today 🙂
There are a lot of talented crafters sharing creations on their blogs today thanks to Kelly from My Papercraft Journey. Not only is Kelly super-talented but full of great ideas! She has coordinated us all to share projects with the theme of ‘hello’ to keep us connected and sharing our stamping virtually while we can’t craft together in person.
Rather than a blog hop where each post links to the next to make a loop of all the participants, Kelly is our blog host. Visit her post for the list of everyone participating in Social Stamping today.
Today I’m sharing cards I made with the stamp set ‘We’ll walrus be friends’. I love a punny sentiment 😀 (They were inspired by Julie Davison’s card)
First up is the card that best fits today’s theme ‘hello’ with the little walrus ‘Just floating by to say hi’.
Here is the full set, all the sentiments and all but one walrus got a turn. I tend to work with one stamp set at a time so I love how this one coordinates so well.
I used Balmy Blue with Blueberry Buswell and Coastal Cabana with Bermuda Bay. The images are stamped on Shimmer White card with Archival Basic Gray and coloured with watercolour pencils and an aqua-painter . To create the embossed layer I used the High Seas 3D embossing folder and the sponge brayers to add colour. A sprinkle of water from the aqua-painter adds a nice finishing touch.
I really liked how these cards turned out so I used them for my make and take project for our team meeting that I hosted. At the meeting we used makeup brushes for adding colour rather than the sponge brayers.
I got a much smoother result with the colour. And can you see the difference of adding colour after embossing – on the Balmy Blue card the edges of the waves got a extra colour.
Next to share their craft with us is the lovely Catherine Creer.
Have you tried makeup brushes for colour blending? I love the result from using them.
Are you like me and work with one stamp set per project?
Do you like colour before or after embossing?
Thank you again for stopping by today!
Narelle 😊
** Don’t forget to head back to Kelly’s post for the list of blogs to visit. **

Love these Narelle, this stamp set is so cute! The makeup brushes are a dream to blend aren’t they? I still have my card from that team meeting and I am going to give it to my Father in Law for his birthday next month. He reminds me of a walrus because he has the most enormous mustache! I love the layout of these and the splashes of water droplets make this the perfect walrus card. Love your work. Mandy x

This project inspired me to add make up brushes to my crafty collection and took my ink blending to a whole new level – thank you!!! I actually bought this stamp set too after playing with yours. I should probably get it out again and show it some love. Thanks for the inspiration and friendship! And thank you for joining the #socialstamping Kelly x

Oh wow, love these cards! I must get some makeup brushes to try blending as I don’t have much success with brayers!
