Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop – CASE the Birthday Girl

Hello and happy Friday! ๐Ÿ˜€

And… happy, happy birthday to Mrs Papercraft, aka Kelly of My Papercraft Journey.

Today we are celebrating our Paper Adventures Team Leader’s birthday with a specially themed blog hop ‘CASE the Birthday Girl’. Welcome to Tanya Rees, our guest designer for this month – thank you for joining us.

For those who don’t know, CASE stands for ‘copy and share everything’ or ‘copy and selectively edit’. In craft terms, if we ask someone if we can CASE their creation, we want to know if it’s ok to copy what they’ve made. CASEing is a great way to get inspiration for card making. Most times people will put their own touches to the design, but it’s okay if you do a straight copy – but ALWAYS acknowledge the original creator!

I had an idea of which card I wanted to CASE, but I decided to visit Kelly’s Pinterest board to look back at all of her amazing cards and papercraft creations she has shared since October 2013. I love remembering that Kelly’s very first post was a sampler frame she made for my son when he was born.

I found 4 designs to choose between, but ended up sticking with the one I thought of originally. I was lucky to receive the card I’ve CASEd for my birthday last year – so I had the real life version to CASE!

You can see Kelly’s card here, and the post also includes a template and instructions. (I’ve also added the template below.)

This card is called a Tri Fold Pocket Card, and I knew I had to make it in the Birthday Girl’s favourite DSP – Best Dressed. I used a Purple Posy card base with Mint Macaron mats under the patterned paper to match the Mint Macaron Ribbon.

This side of the card features Petal Pink in the patterned paper. I added a Whisper White piece embossed with the Tufted folder on the pocket, with a stitched scallop rectangle note card tucked inside – this is where I wrote my birthday message.

This side features Purple Posy in the patterned paper. I love the paper on the right – it’s the only floral with the fine black lines in the images. The die cut flower and heart are from the Stitched Be Mine set. They are a recent purchase and I’m so glad I added them to my collection! The pocket covers are So Saffron, with die cut flowers from the Best Dressed set.

I used the pockets on this side for small crafty birthday presents.

I enjoyed a cuppa in the sunshine with Kelly yesterday, so she got to see her card in person before it appeared here. (That hasn’t been the case for previous birthdays!)

Next on our blog hop is the talented Siobhan, I’m looking forward to seeing her birthday creation!

Where do you get your best card making inspiration from? What did we do before Pinterest?!?

Thanks for visiting!
