Happy Friday! Hello and welcome to the April blog hop for our Paper Adventures team.
This month our theme is photo inspiration and I’m excited to share the photographic skills of one of our team with you. As well as making beautiful paper craft, Siobhan takes stunning photos!
I asked Siobhan for an autumnal themed photo and she sent me this gorgeous image of glossy mushrooms surrounded by dark wood pieces and bark with hints of bright green grass. I can’t wait to see what the team have created with this image as their inspiration.
I started my card making process last night by cleaning my craft room hoping that inspiration would strike and I’m glad to say it did when I uncovered the gorgeous Forever Fern stamp set on my desk. This bundle has been the best selling item for Stampin’ Up! in the current catalogue (which only lasts 2 more weeks!).
I decided to work with the colours from the photo and chose Cinnamon Cider, Early Espresso and Garden Green. I used Very Vanilla for my light coloured element, it’s softer than Basic White.
I used some retired wood grain paper for the layer under my sentiment to tie in the wood from the photo. I also embossed the Cinnamon Cider layer with the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder.
The three layers of the sentiment feature are dies from the Tasteful Labels set. These are definitely a set to have in your collection! The layers are adhered using dimensionals to add further depth to the card.
I added Soft Suede to the embossed layer with a blending brush to add depth and colour to the texture.
Do you know which set the sentiment is from? Ride the Range – I liked this one as it’s not occasion specific. A card like this is good for anyone, anytime.
With a new catalogue coming on 4 May, it means that right now we are saying goodbye to retiring products. I’m sad to see a quite a few well loved products not carrying over but, as a demonstrator, I’ve already received a copy of the new catalogue – and there is more than enough gorgeous new products to make up for what is departing. If you’d like to get your own advanced copy maybe you’d like to become a demonstrator too?
And, I’m pleased to say the Forever Fern stamp set and matching dies are carrying over. But get it now if you’d like the 10% bundle discount!
What inspires your card designs? Do you like to have something to get you started? I like a prompt – left to my own devices it takes far too long to make up my mind!
My lovely friend Lisa is next on our blog hop – you’ll love her photo inspired creation!
