Paper Adventures Team Hop | Colour Challenge

Hello and welcome! It’s time for the monthly Paper Adventures team blog hop.

This month I’m starting the hop as Kelly, our Team Leader, is having a much needed break. While cold, wet weather (which we’ve had a LOT of this past week!) is good crafting weather, it’s been school holidays here in WA so most of our team have also had a bit of a crafting break, which means this month’s blog hop is short and sweet – there are just 3 of us sharing projects with you.

The theme for this hop is a colour challenge. To come up with a colour combination I did a poll in our team page, asking everyone which colour they had not used for a long time. You can see the results below. Pacific Point was also mentioned but I thought it was a bit mean to include that colour!

Joining as our guest designer is the very talented and very lovely Vicki Boucher. I’m looking forward to seeing what she has created, especially as she mentioned the colours are not ones she usually works with. (Maybe that scared away my teamies from this month’s hop?!?)

Speaking of school holidays, that may have been the inspiration for my card… I love the Nothing’s Better Than bundle – the fonts, images, sentiments and dies – ALL OF IT! I’m so glad it continued in this year’s annual catalogue.

Surprisingly, I had quite a few ideas for cards with this colour combination, but none of them worked out on paper! The end result is a mix of the techniques and layouts I thought of. Although it’s partially hidden, you can see a stripe across the white layer that was coloured using blending brushes.

The coloured card pieces were cut with the Rectangular Postage Stamp punch. The cocktail image was stamped with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and coloured by stamping with coordinating stamps.

I put a coloured stripe inside the card as well. It’s quick and easy to get a gorgeous effect with the blending brushes. I love this sentiment!

Next on the hop is Vicki, who has shared some beautiful cards on Facebook this week, so I’m excited to see what she’s made for this hop.

What colour/s have you not used for some time? What can you picture making with this colour combination?

Have you had any ‘cocktails kind of days’ over the school holidays? I feel for everyone in Sydney and Melbourne – there must be many days where adulting is very hard right now. Hopefully lockdown has some silver lining moments for you.

Thanks for visiting!
