Paper Adventures Team Blog Hop | Sketch Challenge

Hello! Welcome to the Paper Adventures team blog hop. Our last team hop was in July, and for most of the team, the blogging break continues, so there are just 3 of us again sharing our projects with you.

The theme this time around is a sketch – I find sketches are a great way to get some initial inspiration when you’re card making. As the blog hop organiser, I took a bit of license and designed the sketch to fit a layout I’ve been wanting to try for a while. I’m excited to see what Lisa and Shannon have created!

The card I’m sharing today is made using the gorgeous Summer Shadows dies. These are FREE when you spend $180 – they are available through Sale-A-Bration, which is running until the end of this month. You can read here about Sale-A-Bration and click here to access the digital catalgoue.

I had my eye on the coordinating Shaded Summer stamp set when the annual catalogue came out, but held back buying it – when I saw the matching dies released there was no hesitation adding this set to my cart!

With my first attempt at this card, I felt it lacked a bit of ‘oomph’, and I couldn’t work out where to put my sentiment After a consultation with my crafting advisor/ upline/ mum, I re-made my card and I love the end result.

My card features a flower and leaves from the die set, using Polished Pink and Melon Mambo for the flower, with Just Jade and Mint Macaron for the leaves. The sentiment is a firm favourite, from the retired Sunshine Wishes set. The card is stamped with one of the floral images from the Shaded Summer set.

The beautiful embossed detail on the white layer was achieved using the Ornate Floral 3D embossing folder. I think it coordinates nicely with the Summer Shadows dies.

Given it’s been a long time between blog posts for me, I thought I’d also share this card I made with the Shaded Summer stamp set. Are you getting the impression Polished Pink is a favourite colour for me?

This card was inspired by Dawn Olchefske’s lovely cards. I love the Happy Birthday stamp in the Shaded Summer set, and how pretty are the In Color jewels? The coordinating paper is from the In Color DSP stack. The sentiment is on the retired Timeless Label punch, for a current substitute, you can’t go past the Label Me Fancy punch.

Next on the hop is Lisa, who has been posting some gorgeous creations on her blog, so I’m looking forward to seeing what she shares tonight.

Do you like working from a sketch when you’re card making? Have you got a favourite colour at the moment?

Thanks for visiting!
